The school counselor supports the academic, social, emotional, and career development of secondary school students. This role provides guidance, counseling services, and intervention programs to help students overcome challenges, develop life skills, and achieve their educational and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities :
a. Student Counseling & Support :
Provide individual and group counseling to students regarding academic, social, emotional, and behavioral issues
Support students in developing self-awareness, resilience, and decision-making skills
Identify students who need additional support and provide appropriate interventions or referrals
Maintain confidentiality and professional counseling standards
b. Academic Guidance :
Assist students in setting academic goals and developing study strategies
Monitor students’ academic progress and collaborate with teachers when necessary
Support students facing academic challenges or learning difficulties
c. Career & College Guidance :
Guide students in exploring career interests and educational pathways
Provide information about college preparation, university applications, and career planning
Organize career counseling sessions, workshops, or career days
d. Collaboration & Communication :
Work closely with teachers, school leadership, and parents to support student development
Communicate with parents regarding student concerns and progress when appropriate
Collaborate with external professionals (psychologists, counselors, or social workers) if needed
e. Program Development :
Develop and implement school counseling programs and preventive initiatives
Conduct workshops related to mental health, personal development, and well-being
Support school policies related to student welfare and safeguarding
f. Documentation & Reporting :
Maintain accurate and confidential counseling records
Prepare reports related to student support programs and counseling activities
Ensure compliance with school policies and ethical guidelines
Qualifications & Skills :
Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Psychology, Counseling, and Guidance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
At least 1 years of working experience in the related field is required (fresh graduates are welcome to apply)
Knowledge of multiple counseling approaches
Have strong communication, teaching and presentation skills, adaptive and a self-regulated learner.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Have empathy, patience, cultural sensitivity, dedication and passionate working in an educational environment
Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (spoken and written)
Willing to be placed in Bogor
