Tips for Parents - Ways to Make Your Teenage Children Read Routinely

In their teenage years, some children already have their hobbies. It’s not easy to get them to find a new hobby, especially reading books. But, books are important in children’s growth and development as they grow up to be the better version of themselves. So, parents, if your child already loves reading or does not love books at all, you need to keep up their growth by getting them to read routinely. Thus, they can get more knowledge in their self-growth and development. If you’re wondering how here we share the tips to help you!

Be their role model

Many children love to follow their parents as role models. Some children consciously or unconsciously have a hobby as their parents have. So why not be a good role model by routinely reading so your children can do the same as well? Read more and more books and show your excitement about the books you’re reading. Talk about your favorite parts, the conflict-climax-or end that you predict, some things in the book that relate to real life, or the character you like. This will be so fun!

Discuss the book with your children

Make sure you always discuss books when you have quality time. Hook them to share and explain their book as you do about yours.

Invite your child to the bookstore

There are so many kinds of books, and maybe you have no idea about your child’s favorite one! The bookstore is the best place to let you see how interested your child to the genre of books. Thus, you can specifically talk about their favorite book genre. Not only that, your child will find more interest in other genres they have no idea before.

Challenge your child to read and give them a special reward!

Some children are easily provoked to do something challenging, so why not give them the challenge to finish a thick or great book to get them to read routinely. Challenge them to explain and review the book (character, plot, climax, storyline, etc.). Reward them such as a small gift, their favorite food, money to buy more books, or shopping for anything they like. Those will be such fun!
